Eligibility Requirements for Singapore Citizenship
Permanent Residents
-> You must have been a Singapore PR for at least 2 years; AND
-> Be gainfully employed in Singapore during this period; OR
->Be the spouse of a Singapore Citizen.
Spouse of a Singapore Citizen
-> You must have been married to a Singapore Citizen for at least 2 years; AND
-> Hold PR status for at least 2 years.
Children of Singapore Citizens
-> A child born to a Singapore Citizen parent (in or outside Singapore) may be eligible by descent.
-> For children adopted by Singapore Citizens, adoption must be legalized and recognized under Singapore law.
Students
- > A PR studying in Singapore for at least 3 years; AND
- > Passed at least one national examination (PSLE / GCE N/O/A levels) or is in the Integrated Programme.
Aged Parents
-> Parents of a Singapore Citizen may apply, subject to ICA’s assessment of financial support and integration.
Renunciation of Previous Citizenship
- > Singapore does NOT allow dual citizenship.
-> You must renounce your previous nationality before taking the Oath of Renunciation and Allegiance.
